VIP Radio

Hundreds of internet radio stations in one colorful player.

VIP Radio is an iOS internet radio project created to make it easy to browse and listen to stations from many countries and music styles. The project included more than 500 stations, built-in search, detailed Now Playing information, AirPlay and system media controls.

The app included a built-in search experience for browsing its radio catalog. Station entries displayed the station name, genre or style and country, making it easier to narrow down what to listen to.

A dedicated player for the station you're listening to.

The Now Playing screen combined the selected station with artwork, playback controls, volume adjustment and track metadata when the station stream supplied it.

Send playback to another AirPlay destination.

AirPlay integration allowed the listener to choose a compatible output device directly from the player, extending the radio experience beyond the iPhone speaker.

The project integrated with iOS media controls so playback could continue while the device was locked, with track information, artwork, volume and transport controls available from the system interface.

Project status: VIP Radio was completed as a working project but was not released through the app stores. Because distributing an internet-radio application can require permission or licensing from radio stations and content providers, the project remains part of the JJ Studio Entertainment portfolio rather than a currently distributed app.
